This piece is about
to be retired.
This one is my friend Jill, and her friend. It won First Place in the Judged Awards Professional Category at the First Occasional Lone Star Science Fiction and Chili Cook-Off Art show in 1985, the year I drew it. (That was the American Science Fiction Convention, or NASFIC, that year, by the way.)
The idea came to me when we were all sitting around way too late at night in Tay & Jim's apartment, talking and laughing. Tay had a stuffed griffin, and one thing led to another, and the picture just had to be done.
The original is prismacolor pencil on Canson MiTentes paper.
The print has an image area roughly 7x9 inches and comes matted on a piece of foam-core board. Open edition, signed by the artist. $25 + $7 shipping and handling.
